Joenabie Arevalo 

Ms. Joenabie Arevalo is the University Librarian of Ateneo de Manila University, a role she assumed in January 2026. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Deputy University Librarian for Reader Services and, since December 2007, the Head Librarian and Supervisor of the Rizal Library Ortigas at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH).

Beyond her administrative leadership, Ms. Arevalo is a dedicated educator and advocate for the field. As a faculty member at the University of the Philippines School of Library and Information Studies (UP SLIS), she teaches electives in medical and health librarianship. She ranked 5th at the 2004 Philippine Librarian Licensure Examination. She holds both a bachelor’s degree (cum laude, 2004) and a master’s degree (2011) in Library and Information Science from UP SLIS and is currently pursuing a PhD in Education at the Gokongwei Brothers School of Education and Learning Design (GBSEALD), Ateneo de Manila University.

She is part of the inaugural cohort of a library leadership program at Singapore Management University where she collaborated with emerging leaders across Southeast Asia to strengthen global perspectives in the region. Ms. Arevalo also serves as an Adviser to the Medical and Health Librarians Association of the Philippines and is an active member of the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. Her research and conference contributions focus on the intersection of innovation, information systems, and the evolving landscape of library science.
