Professor Frank Frizelle
Professor Frank Frizelle (ONZM, MBChB, MMedSc, FRACS, FACS, FASCRS, FNZMA, FASA (hon),FRCSI (hon), FRCSEd (hon)) is Professor of Surgery at the University of Otago and has been Editor-in-Chief of the New Zealand Medical Journal (NZMJ) and on the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors since 2022.
Besides editing the New Zealand medical journal he is active in clinical practise as a colorectal surgeon, and undertakes surgical outcome-based research across a range of colorectal disease processes, as well as laboratory-based research into the aetiology of bowel cancer.
He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and on the board of a number of companies in areas of medical services, as well as farming, insurance, finance and superannuation. He is also a trustee for a number of trusts including the Canterbury Charity Hospital, the Cotter Medical History Trust, and Chair of the Christchurch Cancer Foundation, and Chairman of the ANZ National Prostate Cancer Register and Deputy Chair of the ANZ Bowel Cancer Register.
