Joey is a Clinical Professor and former Vice Chancellor, University of the Philippines Manila; Senior Health Advisor, Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health); and Member, Board of Directors, Healthway Medical Network Philippines Inc. He is Editor-in-Chief, Philippine Journal of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery; Charter President, Philippine Association of Medical Journal Editors (PAMJE); Past President, Asia-Pacific Association of Medical Editors (APAME); and Secretary, World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). He is on the Editorial Board of 6 journals; International Advisory/Editorial Board of the Medical Journal of Australia and 4 others; and Reviewer for 6 more. He is on the Advisory Board and served/s as a Reviewer for the 8th (2017), 9th (2022) and 10th (2025) International Congress on Peer Review and Scientific Publication, Chicago Illinois (JAMA Network, BMJ, METRICS).
